Can Coffee Actually Get Rid of Bad Breath?

Can you imagine what this could possibly mean for coffee lovers? Coffee mouthwash? Coffee toothpaste? Coffee flavored dental floss? Well, not so fast... The substance in coffee that actually cures the bacteria causing bad breath is something that needs to be extracted to be effective. Researcher Mel Rosenberg of Tel Aviv is currently working on isolating this molecule so that the coffee extract can be used to cure bad breath. This seems a total oxymoron, especially when you have dragon breath after your morning coffee on the way to work, but it may be in our near future. Until then, it may be a safe bet to keep Listerine in your desk at work in case you have a meeting with a client post cup of Joe. You can also do simple tricks, like scraping your tongue with a spoon, to get rid of the bacteria sitting on your tongue causing bad breath. In all actuality, coffee does not cause coffee breath, but it leads you to be dehydrated so that bacteria can breed in your mouth. Let's hope for that glorious day of coffee Listerine strips to come soon...
